Todd Harris
Research Scientist

My research into dietary lipids, nutrition and health began with an interest in an enzyme that metabolizes oxidized lipids, soluble epoxide hydrolase (PhD with Bruce Hammock, UC). My research in Amy's lab continues to explore the impact of diet-derived lipids on cellular processes.

Valérie Guieu
Visiting Professor
valerie.guieu@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr

I am a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Grenoble Alpes University, France, where I teach analytical and physical chemistry. I belong to the TIMC laboratory and I am a visiting researcher on sabbatical in Amy's group for a year. My research focuses on assessing exposure to environmental contaminants (pesticides...) via food and professional practices, in particular through the development of ultra-sensitive analytical methods.
I am developing at Carleton U. biochemistry and toxicology skills thanks to C. elegans! Out of the lab, I like to be outside: run, ride, hike, ski, also yoga and everything related to dogs, reading, enjoying life with my kids.

Jillian Rohonczy
Postdoctoral Fellow
jillianrohonczy@cmail.carleton.ca

Jillian completed her PhD in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology at Carleton University. Her research examined the effects of environmental contaminants on fish and amphibians, focusing on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Building on her expertise in PFAS effects in aquatic organisms, Jillian is exploring PFAS transformation by gut microbiota. Outside the lab, Jillian enjoys riding horses, scuba diving, reading, and crafting.

Amanda Sakyi
PhD Student
amandaameyaasakyi@cmail.carleton.ca

Amanda completed her BScH in Biochemistry at Carleton and began her PhD specializing in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology. She aspires to become a forensic toxicologist. Amanda is exploring the bioactivation and oxidative stress response of toxicants within the nematode C. elegans. Outside of the lab, Amanda spends her free time dancing or playing her clarinet, cooking, and hiking.
Sierra Peskett
PhD Student
sierrapeskett@cmail.carleton.ca

Sierra completed her BScH in Forensic Science and Chemistry at Laurentian University and is currently working towards her PhD in Chemistry specializing in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology. She is fascinated by the intersection between nutrition and toxicology. In her spare time, Sierra enjoys spending time outside, reading, cooking and traveling.
Risha Minocha-Mckenney
PhD Student
rishaminochamckenney@cmail.carleton.ca

Risha completed her BScH in Chemistry at Mount Allison University. Through various analytical techniques, such as high-resolution mass spec, she is exploring the mechanism of action by which fluorinated pollutant metabolites lead to toxicity.
Genevieve Hache
MSc Student
genevievehache@cmail.carleton.ca

Geneviève completed her BScH in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa. Motivated by her interdisciplinary interest in toxicology, she’s currently studying the effects of PFAS bioaccumulation and maternal offloading in Lake Michigan’s fish species. Geneviève enjoys nerding out through tabletop games or video games, working out at a rock climbing gym or a squash court, and jamming out with the National Capital Concert Band.
Meara Ryan
MSc Student

Meara completed her BA (honours) in Chemistry with an emphasis in Forensic Science at Lindenwood University. She is currently working towards an MSc in Chemistry specializing in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology. Her research involves exploring emerging fluorinated contaminants in wastewater treatment plant sludge. Outside of the lab, Meara enjoys playing hockey, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
Amelia Williams
MSc Student
ameliawilliams@cmail.carleton.ca

Amelia completed her BScH in Chemistry at Mount Allison University. She is currently working towards an MSc in Chemistry specializing in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology, with a focus on characterizing PFAS in consumer products.
